OUM Council Chair Taffy Gould discusses the OUM's curriculum with students at a recent career fair at a college in Florida.

OUM encourages students from diverse educational backgrounds to apply. Graduates in the liberal arts, humanities, basic sciences, and allied professional backgrounds are welcome. OUM's student selection procedures are based on 'best practice' research on medical school selection criteria worldwide.

OUM will require applicants to have demonstrated successful performance at tertiary college-level studies. Candidates wishing to practice in the United States should have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in order to receive an MD degree.

Candidates without prior education in the health sciences and with less than five years work experience in healthcare delivery will be required to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Candidates will be ranked on the basis of previous academic performance and admissions tests. The final selection tool will be an interview focusing on the personal qualities important for the pursuit of a career in medicine.

Oceania University of Medicine welcomes students from all countries. Students shall be selected without regard to sex, race, religion, or national origin. Applications are accepted on a rolling admissions basis. Enrollment occurs every eight weeks. While OUM reserves the right to vary the specific requirements in relation to the country of origin of the students, a basic set of requirements and procedures is applied equally to all students who are candidates for admission to OUM.
