Multimedia

‘ A picture’s worth a thousand words’ is often quoted. Multimedia files are particularly useful where you may not have access to laboratories to undertake practical work in person, for example.

Your web browser (Internet Explorer, Opera or Firebird for example) can display charts and photos, but often additional software, such as Acrobat Reader, Flash Player, Java, Windows Media Player or Quicktime may be needed to manage specialist documents, sound or video files. These player programs are usually freely available for download from the internet.

Multimedia files may also be large in size, and broadband internet access is recommended when using them, rather than modem access.
