1. Google is a very popular search engine for locating web based information.
2. Google Scholar - You may not know about its companion site, however. Google Scholar indexes the hidden parts of the Internet, such as databases and indexes of journal articles.
The identical search in both these tools will have very different results.
Note: Many of the articles retrieved by Google Scholar will require payment before you can access their full text.
3. Highwire Press is an epublishing platform that hosts close to 1500 journals. The HighWire portal offers advanced searching and browsing capabilities and tools, creating an alternative means to find and make sense of information from over five million full-text articles; create keyword, citation or author alerts; and download citations across all the content HighWire host.
4. MedHunt is a specialist full-text search engine developed by Health on the Net Foundation (HON) which focuses on health/medical web sites. The layout of the search screen makes it easy to limit searches by geographic region or top level domain type.
