Subject GatewaysIf you have a subject about which you need to find more information (let's say "breast cancer") and you want to know what kind of Internet resources (if any) are available in your subject area, where do you start? (Other than Medline which we reviewed previously) Subject Gateways are collections of web sites that have been reviewed and selected for the quality or usefulness of their content. 1. The first one you should try is the OUM Library Resources collection because the resources here have been specifically selected to support your course of study. Note: The OUM Electronic Library includes links to all of the resources covered in this tutorial 2. OMNI, a UK based gateway, is a catalogue of hand-selected and evaluated Internet resources in Health and Medicine. All sites found through this gateway come with a brief description that enables you to assess their usefulness before you visit. 3. Infomine is
a similar US based scholarly gateway with selected and reviewed Internet
resources, covering all topics, not just health sciences.
You can select the Biological,
Agricultural and Medical Sciences section
of this tool to limit your searching though.
