Tuition for the entire five-year MBBS program, for students enrolling during 2012, is paid in the local currency of the student as listed on the tables on the page below. To assist students and parents in budgeting, the tuition rate during the student’s first semester on campus remains in effect for the entire five-year program.

For Samoan and native-born Pacific Island students enroling after 1 January 2012:

For Australian and New Zealand students enrolling after 1 August 2012:

Tuition fee rates quoted above are payable in the local currency of the student, i.e. Australian students pay in Australian dollars and New Zealand students pay in New Zealand dollars. Residents of all other countries will pay in US dollars.

All tuition fees for modules taken after the e-ITM are due four weeks before the term begins, during Registration Week which is held four weeks before a term start date and the recommended time to make decisions about registering for the upcoming module, paying tuition, etc. Invoices are sent to each student via his/her OUM e-mail address four weeks prior to Registration Week, to allow time for questions, arrangements, etc. Students who do not make arrangements by the end of Registration Week may not be able to take the next term. Sufficient time is needed to assign students to appropriate modules, distribute curriculum materials, and provide access to information on OUM’s Learning Management System. Likewise, students need enough time to prepare their study schedules and finalize their mentor visits for the coming term.

OUM aims to keep its tuition fees at a constant level to allow students to budget accordingly. When students matriculate into the program, the current tuition rate remains in effect for the preclinical modules and for clinical rotations taken in Samoa, as long as the student maintains full-time status and remains in good standing with the University. The tuition rate for clinical rotations taken at other teaching hospitals depends upon the fees charged by the host institution, generally at a rate comparable to the preclinical tuition rate (within 20 percent).

The special $5,000-per-eight-week module rate is good for students completing the program within five years of matriculation. Those students requiring more time will pay the prevailing tuition rate at the time, i.e. a student signing up in 2013 who has a few modules left in 2019 will pay the 2019 tuition rate.

a) Tuition Payments
A wire transfer of funds through the ANZ Bank is the only accepted form of tuition payment and must be in the applicable currency, as defined above. The transfer reference information must include the student's name and module number. Students are responsible for all fees related to funds transfers.

Online Invoice System
Tuition invoices are available for review online at http://oceaniamed.biz. Students receive login information via email from the Finance Department once the matriculation fee has been received and processed. Once payment is processed by the Bursar's Office, a confirmation e-mail is sent to the student's OUM e-mail address, and the student‟s account is updated to reflect the payment.

Payment Plans
Payment plans allow students the flexibility to budget and pay for medical school as they progress through the program. Payment plans are available to all OUM students, as long as the student is in good standing and has not abused the payment plan privilege in the past. Note: Students will not be able to begin the next module until their account has been settled with the bursar.

OPTION 1
OUM will accept payment on student accounts in installments as long as one-third of the balance is paid four weeks before classes begin, and the balance due is paid three weeks prior to the final course examination. The installment payment plan is:
• Four weeks before the term begins: one-third of balance
• Upon completion of one week of class: one-third of balance
• Upon completion of four weeks of class: final one-third of balance

OPTION 2
Monthly payments may be made by check, money order, bank draft, wire transfer, or credit card (American Express, MasterCard or Visa). Students in good standing may spread tuition payments evenly over an entire 12-month period for the number of modules they plan to take during that time (a minimum of three). Payments are due on the first of every month with the exception of the first payment, which is due upon signing the Monthly Payment Plan Agreement.

Students who participate in either option and default on payment will not receive their module marks and may not register for another module until the account is settled. In addition, the opportunity to continue on a payment plan may be subject to review by the Bursar's Office.

b) Tuition Refunds
Students who withdraw from a semester may be eligible for a tuition refund (excluding non-refundable deposits and credit card processing fees) depending upon the timing of the receipt of the student's official request. All refunds are made within 30 days of the withdrawal date.
