A Typical Day |
|
Monday through Friday during most modules in the first three years of study (Foundation and Preclinical Phases), students typically spend 9 am to 4 pm on campus. They travel together from student housing for a 9 am lecture, followed by free study time and a second lecture before the lunch break. Depending on the day and module, afternoons are a mix of practical classes, which explore a variety of clinical and procedural presentations; clinical correlation classes, which tie in basic science concepts; group and individual assignments; and weekly quizzes. Students are provided access to the University computer network (Intranet) and Moodle, its learning management system, where they will access Problem Based Learning cases, interact with off-campus instructors/students, participate in online discussions, post assignments, and submit quizzes. The library, with its computer lab and discussion rooms, is open daily until 6 pm, allowing students to conduct research and complete individual and/or group assignments. Students will usually travel home for dinner. As student numbers on campus increase, library hours will extend to10 pm on weekdays for students wishing to return for study after dinner. The library will also be open on weekends on a yet-to-be determined schedule. Below is a typical weekly timetable during the Anatomy module of the Foundation year of study:
